Helen Armes MCSP BSc
After graduating with a BSc in Physiotherapy from Brunel University in 1993, I worked for 2 years in both In-patients and Out-patients at Ashford Hospital in Middlesex.
I then moved to Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton, where I worked in Paediatrics and with Adults with Physical disabilities & Learning difficulties, before moving to Brighton in 1997.
I worked for Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust for 10 years, specialising in musculoskeletal conditions, working in hospitals in both Brighton and Hove, and in local GP practices.
I joined Shoreham Physiotherapy Clinic in the year 2000, and in 2003 I spent a year in China studying Acupuncture, where I received an Advanced Diploma in Acupuncture from Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Alongside ongoing acupuncture courses, I continue to develop my sports and musculoskeletal skills, attending regular Post-Graduate courses in Advanced Sports Rehabilitation and Orthopaedic Medicine.
In 2014 I obtained a Post-Graduate Diploma in Pain Management from Cardiff University, and was subsequently offered the opportunity to work on the Pain Management Course (INPUT) at St Thomas’s. Hospital, working as part of a multidisciplinary team, with patients in chronic pain.
Also alongside my ongoing work at Shoreham Physiotherapy Clinic, in May 2017 I started work at Blind Veterans UK, enabling members to obtain maximum physical health, fitness, and functional ability.
I have also very much enjoyed the opportunity to carry out voluntary work for both The Martlets Hospice in Hove, and the National Rehabilitation Centre in Laos, SE Asia.
Been visiting Helen for a few months now after breaking my ankle, I am so happy of what I\’ve managed to achieve because of her help and guidance, would highly recommend to any one. HM
